Sildenafil is in a class of medications called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. Sildenafil Citrate is the citrate salt of Sildenafil, a selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5).

It acts by inhibiting cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), an enzyme that promotes degradation of cGMP, which regulates blood flow in the penis. Sildenafil treats erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. This increased blood flow can cause an erection.

Indicated to treat erectile dysfunction.

Contraindicated during treatment of cardiovascular disease using glyceryl trinitrate, sodium nitroprusside, amyl nitrite, hypotension, hereditary degenerative retinal disorders.

Headache, flushing, dyspepsia, muscle aches and impaired vision.

As prescribed by the physician.
